Summary

Summary

Safari day dawns on the savanna. The African light gives the sky colors seen nowhere else on Earth. Soon, an amazing array of wild animals are yawning, screeching, and growling to life. Meet the elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, hippos, and the laughing hyenas of the wilderness and find out who's friends with whom and why!

Horn Book Review

This book for "pre-readers" is weaker than its counterparts for slightly older readers. The text effectively uses repetition, but the rhymes aren't strong (me with safari) and the refrain is a little cloying ("I see elephants spray, / just for me. / I see elephants spray, / on safari"). Excellent photos of African animals are the volume's highlight. Copyright 2010 of The Horn Book, Inc. All rights reserved.
